Hello!
This is my first 'blog' like post on here and I wanted to put this out there so you know why I started this website. The Big Contemporary Website idea hatched from my final year project in my BA Degree which you can find on Instagram @natureandusexhibition. I'll be posting a little blog on this later. Nature and Us Exhibition involved interaction with student and professional artists which I found exciting to meet the artists behind the works. I also felt there wasn't much about artists and them as people available when work is shown, which I feel is unfair as their ideas come from everything they have experienced and are interested in; I also found this an artist. For Nature and Us I developed a podcast which helped people to access contemporary art, this I learned through feedback from the initial exhibition Instagram and virtual exhibition launch. I learned throughout my degree a lack of engagement with contemporary art from those outside the Art Industry, just everyday people, the general perception of contemporary art is 'silly' and 'simple', often making comments around the fact it doesn't have much 'skill'. When I know and anyone who studies contemporary art, that it does take skill and research.
My success in my BA combined with the exhibition led me to be more confident about talking about my experiences in the Art Industry and creating content for people to engage with to find learning about contemporary art easier and more accessible. Therefore, I wanted to create a platform which I could combine my separated interests which I found in my degree which is where this website comes in.
So I will be posting a lot on things I'm finding or past experiences and upcoming exhibitions, exhibitions I have visited; completely uncensored.
Anyway please stick with me, I am new at this! Heres some pictures of me to introduce you to me :)
